BlackHole Music v1.15.5 (New Unlimited features)

The BlackHole music v1.15.5 update was a foundational release aimed at perfecting the “Core Player” experience. While later versions added heavy features like YouTube Music and Caching, this version focused on UI responsiveness, multi-language support, and offline playback logic.

Global Expansion: Multi-Language Support

One of the headline features of BlackHole Music v1.15.5 was the introduction of a robust localization engine.

  • 15+ Music Languages: The app added support for over 15 regional and international languages. This allowed the “Home” recommendations to adapt specifically to the user’s linguistic preferences (e.g., Hindi, English, Punjabi, Spanish, etc.).
  • Dynamic Translation Handshake: Improved the way the app fetches localized metadata, ensuring artist names and track titles display correctly in the selected script.

Offline Mode Enhancements

Before “Caching” was introduced in BlackHole Music v1.15.6, this version perfected the Standard Offline Mode.

  • Shuffle & Repeat for Local Files: Enabled full playback control (Shuffle/Repeat) for songs downloaded to the device.
  • Offline Sorting: Added the ability to Sort Offline Music by Name, Date Added, or Artist, making it easier to manage large local libraries.
  • Notification Fixes: Resolved a bug where the album art wouldn’t display in the notification panel while playing in offline mode.

UI Stability & Gesture Controls

  • Smooth Navigation Swipe: Fixed a critical issue where the Bottom Navigation Bar failed to update correctly when swiping between screens.
  • Search Bar Optimization: Corrected a UI glitch where the search bar would remain “stuck” at 75% width after rotating the screen or changing views.
  • Gesture Integration: Introduced basic swipe gestures on the “Now Playing” screen to skip tracks or minimize the player.
  • Color Hue Customization: Expanded the Accent Color picker, allowing users to fine-tune the app’s secondary colors and “Hue” for a truly custom look.

System & Android 11+ Compatibility

  • Scoped Storage Fix: Addressed a major bug where songs failed to download on Android 11 and above due to new permission restrictions.
  • App Exit Logic: Fixed the “Ghost Playback” issue where music would continue playing even after the app was closed from the recent tasks menu.
  • Pause/Swipe Fix: Corrected the media notification logic so it can now be swiped away immediately after the music is paused.

What is JSON Playlist Import?

JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) is a lightweight data format. In BlackHole, a JSON file acts as a digital blueprint of your music. It contains the names, artists, and source IDs of all your songs. Using this feature is often 10x faster than standard Spotify syncing because it doesn’t rely on the Spotify API handshake, which can sometimes be slow or buggy.

Step 1: Obtain your JSON File

There are two main ways to get this file:

From a Friend: Another BlackHole user can go to their playlist, tap Export, and send you the resulting .json file.

From External Tools: Use online converters (like TuneMyMusic or Soundiiz) to export your Spotify/Apple Music playlists specifically into a JSON format.

Step 2: The “Direct Share” Method (Fastest)
In v1.15.6, the app added “File Intent” support.

Locate the .json file in your phone’s File Manager.

Long-press the file and select Share.

Choose BlackHole from the list of apps.

The app will automatically open, read the file, and ask if you want to import the playlist. Tap Yes.

Step 3: The Manual Method (Internal)
If the share method doesn’t work on your device:

Open BlackHole and go to the Library or Playlists tab.

Tap the “+” (Add) icon or the Three-Dot Menu.

Select Import Playlist -> From JSON File.

Browse your internal storage, select the file, and watch your songs populate the list instantly.

Conclusion

BlackHole Music 1.15.5 was the “Cleanup” update. It took the experimental features of the early 1.15.x branch and made them stable enough for daily use. It also paved the way for the YouTube Music integration that followed in the very next version.
